Hi! I’m Gemstone. Thanks for stopping by.
I was born in the momentous year of 1965 where Singapore became independent. I have lived my whole life in the Little Red Dot except for the 2 years where I was living and studying in the US. I celebrated SG50 with the whole nation, appreciating what I have and counting my blessings. Sure, I could do with a lot more (who doesn’t?) but my life is good now. I have lived through retrenchments, a divorce, death in the family and various health scares, and came out stronger at the other side. Life as a 50plus, and a single, is great, and I am loving every bit of this new-found freedom, both financially and personally. The first 50 years was hard work, making ends meet. I am determined to make the next 50 (or however long I have) the “time of my life”, which is the driving force behind my blog. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and hope to hear back from you too.
In my very successful corporate career, I was a high impact marketing and communications professional with over 20 years of experience in the government, manufacturing, aviation, telecommunications and publishing industries with public offices and global companies. I have held appointments in diverse functions from public relations, corporate communications, marketing, events and vendor management in various capacities as people manager, budget owner with profit-&-loss responsibility.
Education & Certifications. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Statistics from the National University of Singapore and attained an MBA from George Washington University (USA). I have recently completed the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA).
